Some Basic Tips and Tricks in MS Excel

Move-in the Sheet:

We use arrow keys to move within the worksheet, single cell at a time. However, if we want to move fast then we can use Ctrl + Arrow Key to move quickly from one format to other. Use the Shift +Arrow key to select the cells. Use Ctrl + Shift + Arrow key to select everything.

Auto Fill Function:

Excel has an Autofill feature to help you do your work quickly. Eg. Enter Jan in First Cell. Move the Mouse pointer towards the bottom right corner and the Mouse pointer changes its shape from Thick Plus to Thin Plus. Press and Hold, while moving the pointer down. Release the button for cells to display the series.

Freeze and Unfreeze:

If you have a large table of data in Excel, it can be useful to freeze rows or columns. This way you can keep rows or columns visible while scrolling through the rest of the worksheet. Select the cell above which, and left to which you want to freeze panes. Go to View Menu and select Freeze panes. To Unfreeze, simply select unfreeze from View Menu.

New Window:

From the View menu, select New window. Select Arrange All to arrange the windows.

Alt + Enter:

When we press Enter in the worksheet, the cursor moves to select the below cell. If you want to move to the next line in the same cell, then Press Alt + Enter.

Alt + Tab:

To move between different workbooks or opened files, press alt tabs.
